Many don't realize that the famous Revolutionary War rider/cryer, Paul Revere, was, by trade, a metal spinner!  Although his lathe would've taken a lot more man power that our electrical ones, the process was the same as we use today.

NOTE: LOOK CLOSELY... you WILL see some "brush marks" in these cups.  That is because a real human being, an old school master craftsman stands bent over a lathe, spinning these into the pieces of artwork they are.  It is not a machine stamping these out one after the other.  It is his own hands and bodyweight that applies the pressure from one end to the other creating this finished product.

We do not put "high shine" on our items.  They are hand "polished" by the spinner with an abrasive pad while it's still spinning, and also afterward during the life of the item, to clean up the naturally occurring patina that forms on all metals, but especially brass and copper, from time time. (and you should do the same with your metal items) These are the marks you see, and part of what makes these so very personal, and so special.
